Daniel Boylan

Principal, KPMG

Daniel is a Principal in KPMG’s Advisory Forensic Department. He is highly seasoned Financial Crimes Professional with 26 years of experience in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) / Counter-Terrorist Financing, Compliance, Audit and Federal Law Enforcement.

Daniel joined the Forensic Department in July 2022, specializing in financial crimes transformation with a particular focus on perpetual Know Your Customer, innovation and investigations, leveraging advanced technology tools to help clients deal effectively with large amount of data and documentation.

Previously, Daniel held various leadership positions at Bank of America during his 10-year tenure with the bank, including the head of Financial Crimes for Merrill Lynch, Global head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and Global head of Financial Crimes Audit. 

Daniel’s career began as a Crime Prevention Analyst for Washington, D.C. / Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), where he analyzed crime data related to money laundering, drug trafficking, potential terrorist financing and fraud.  In this role, Daniel furnished reports for the White House Drug Policy Office and provided the broader law enforcement community with intelligence as needed.  In 1998, he joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and was assigned to the High Intensity Financial Crimes Area (HIFCA) as a Money Laundering / Drug Trafficking Intelligence Analyst, where he assisted federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in major drug trafficking and money laundering investigations.

In 2004, Daniel relocated to Charlotte, NC and held various leadership roles with Wells Fargo & Company / Wachovia Corporation. Starting as Vice President, Director of AML Training & Awareness for Wachovia then becoming the VP, head of the FIU, where he managed a large team of intelligence and investigations professionals. He capped off his time with Wachovia / Wells Fargo as VP, Compliance Manager, where he led a team of senior compliance professional responsible for BSA/AML/OFAC governance-related issues.
