Thanks to improvements in technology, voice transcripts are now so accurate they are almost as good as written records. This marks a significant advance in surveillance capabilities, but it has also led to concerns over its use in legal discovery and
retention policies. “The technology has really, really gone to a point where it's incredibly accurate,” one participant said. “What we're experiencing is that this accuracy causes issues of itself, especially with our US colleagues, because they have viewed these stats. The transcription is now so good, it is deemed almost a written record. And therefore, it becomes discoverable, has a longer retention period and causes all sorts of mayhem.”
